lecsUseBurnedInEsi

Module: IBM-ELAN-MIB

OID (symbolic): IBM-ELAN-MIB::lecsUseBurnedInEsi

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.118.1.2.1.4.3.1.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: Specifies whether a MAC Address burned into the ATM device should be used as the End System Identifier component of the LECS ATM Address.

What is lecsUseBurnedInEsi?

This TruthValue flag controls whether the LAN Emulation Configuration Server (LECS) uses the MAC address burned into the local ATM device as the End System Identifier (ESI) portion of its own ATM address. Leaving this true(1), the default, means the LECS's ATM address is automatically derived from hardware, while setting it false requires an admin to supply a locally administered ESI via lecsConfiguredEsi. An admin might set this to false(2) when multiple LECS instances need distinct, manually assigned addresses rather than ones tied to physical hardware.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> IBM-ELAN-MIB::lecsUseBurnedInEsi

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.118.1.2.1.4.3.1.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> IBM-ELAN-MIB::lecsUseBurnedInEsi.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.118.1.2.1.4.3.1.1.1.1.1 s <value>
