prptrSecurityPortMulticastMode
Module: Hub-rptr-prvt-sec
OID (symbolic): Hub-rptr-prvt-sec::prptrSecurityPortMulticastMode
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.22.101.8.6.1.1.6
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: When this variable is set to accept(2) the port accepts multicast frames and repeats them to all ports. When the following objects have the values: prptrSecurityPortMulticastMode = reject(3) prptrSecurityPortDAMismatch = enable(2) the destination port will replace broadcast frames with random packets.
The value other(1) is returned whenever the multicast mode is unknown. This value should not be written into the agent.
What is prptrSecurityPortMulticastMode?
This read-write field controls whether this port accepts and repeats multicast frames (accept(2)) or, combined with DA-mismatch enabled, has multicast frames replaced with random packets (reject(3)). An admin sets this to reject(3) to prevent multicast traffic from reaching an untrusted device on this port.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.22.101.8.6.1.1.6 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Hub-rptr-prvt-sec::prptrSecurityPortMulticastMode
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.22.101.8.6.1.1.6.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Hub-rptr-prvt-sec::prptrSecurityPortMulticastMode.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.22.101.8.6.1.1.6.1 i <value>
SNMPv3 example:
snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> prptrSecurityPortMulticastMode.1
