Description: Huawei VRRP extensions MIB providing proprietary enhancements to VRRP including interface tracking and preemption control.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-VRRP-EXT-MIB?

HUAWEI-VRRP-EXT-MIB is a Huawei Technologies proprietary MIB extending the standard VRRP-MIB with VRRP tracking, letting a router's VRRP priority automatically adjust based on the state of a tracked interface or BFD session. Its objects cover free-ARP interval, VIP ping-count, a state-settling timer, learned-advertisement-interval flag, protocol version, and state-change-reason text, an interface-tracking table (VRID, standby/tracked interface, priority reduce/increase, row status), and a BFD-tracking table (BFD session ID, priority reduce/increase, type, name, row status). As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm which interface or BFD session is tracked for a VRRP group and by how much its priority is adjusted on failure. It is deployed on Huawei routers running VRRP with tracking. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-VRRP-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-VRRP-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei routers (VRRP with interface/BFD tracking)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks hwVrrpTrackBfdPriReduce to confirm how much a router's VRRP priority will drop if the tracked BFD session fails, before relying on it for sub-second failover.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VRRP tracked-object priority adjustment configuration
