Description: Huawei module information MIB for reporting installed hardware module details, versions, and operational status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-MODULE-INFO-MIB?

HUAWEI-MODULE-INFO-MIB is a Huawei hardware inventory MIB that reports details about installed hardware modules -- such as line cards or boards -- within a modular chassis, including a BOM (bill of materials) description string identifying the exact module type and build. It exposes hardware inventory data: module identity, version, and operational status. This MIB is explicitly hardware-status oriented, letting an administrator confirm which physical modules are installed, what their hardware/BOM version is, and whether a given module is operating normally, which is useful for detecting an unrecognized, mismatched, or failed board. It complements the standard ENTITY-MIB physical-entity table, which covers similar ground in a vendor-neutral way, by adding Huawei-specific BOM detail. It is deployed on modular Huawei chassis-based routers and switches with multiple slots and field-replaceable boards. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-MODULE-INFO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-MODULE-INFO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei modular chassis routers
  • Huawei modular switches

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were provided for this module. Based on the module description, an administrator would poll the per-module BOM description string and status objects to verify that the board installed in a given slot matches the expected type and hardware version, and to detect an unrecognized or failed module after a hardware change or a slot going offline.

What Can Be Monitored

  • installed module BOM description
  • module hardware/version identity
  • module operational status
  • module presence per slot
