This read-only value reports whether IPv6 is currently enabled on the associated interface, using a value of 1 to indicate enabled and 2 to indicate disabled. An administrator checks this to confirm IPv6 is actually active on a given interface, useful when troubleshooting IPv6 connectivity issues where the first question is often whether the protocol is even turned on for that interface. For example, an interface expected to be dual-stacked but showing this flag as 2 (disabled) would immediately explain why devices on that interface can't get IPv6 connectivity.
