Description: The PD policy only applies to the situation that when a new PD is inserted, and the power of PSE is overload. A value of priority(2) means that the power will stop supplying to the low priority port PD. About port priority, please refer to pethPsePortPowerPriority. A value of disabled(1) means that the slot stop supplying to the new inserted PD. The default value of this object is disabled(1).
What is hpnicfPDPolicyMode?
This read-write setting (disabled/priority, default disabled) governs what happens when a newly plugged-in powered device would overload a PSE: priority(2) cuts power to whichever port has the lowest pethPsePortPowerPriority, while disabled(1) instead denies power to the newly inserted PD. An admin plugging in a new camera on an already-busy PoE switch would want priority(2) so lower-priority existing devices are shed rather than the new camera failing to power up.
