Category: Technology: Switching/L2, Vendor: H3C/HH3C, Vendor: HP/HPE
Description: Manages HP Group Management Protocol (HGMP) for cluster-based switch management on HP/Comware access switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HPN-ICF-HGMP-MIB?
This MIB manages the HP Group Management Protocol (HGMP), a proprietary HP/H3C protocol used for cluster-based management of multiple LAN switches through a single management IP address. It belongs to the HP/Comware "lanswitch" family and exposes configuration and status data for organizing switches into administrative clusters, electing a management device, and tracking member devices. Though no sample objects were provided, HGMP MIBs of this kind typically expose cluster membership status, member device reachability/uptime, and role (management device vs. member), giving visibility into whether the switch cluster's software-level control plane is healthy. It is a vendor-proprietary HP/H3C mechanism with no direct dependency on IETF standard cluster-management MIBs. It is typically deployed across stacks of HP/Comware access-layer LAN switches managed collectively as a single logical unit. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HPN-ICF-HGMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-HGMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP/H3C Comware LAN switch (clustered)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this MIB, and the module description gives only a high-level statement that it manages "hpnicfhgmp operations" on lanswitch products, so a concrete object-level monitoring scenario cannot be honestly constructed from the available information.

RFC description
Manages HP/H3C cluster and group management protocol (HGMP) operations for LAN switch topology and network clustering.
Start monitoring HP/H3C Comware LAN switch (clustered, HGMP) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
