hpStackSwitchPreferredPriority

Module: HP-STACK-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-STACK-MIB::hpStackSwitchPreferredPriority

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.69.1.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: This allows the user to set the priority of a switch when stacking is enabled on it. hpStackSwitchPreferredPriority needs to be set along with hpStackSwitchAdminStatus being set to 'true (1)'.

Note that this is to be used only when enabling stacking. To set the priority of a switch on which stacking is already enabled, use hpStackMemberTable.

hpStackSwitchPreferredPriority is unused when hpStackSwitchAdminStatus is false (2).

What is hpStackSwitchPreferredPriority?

This read-write value (1-255) sets the priority a switch should use when stacking is first enabled on it via hpStackSwitchAdminStatus, and is ignored once the switch is already stacked (use hpStackMemberTable to change priority afterward). Set this alongside hpStackSwitchPreferredMemberId before enabling stacking to influence which switch becomes stack commander.
