hpStackSetStacking

Module: HP-STACK-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-STACK-MIB::hpStackSetStacking

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.69.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: This variable allows configuration of a stack fragment created by a stack split. When set to 'true (1)' in the greater fragment, the physically present members of the current stack become the only members, and the configuration of the missing members is converted to strict provisioned configuration.

When set to 'true (1)' on a lesser fragment, the existing stack information is cleared and a new stack ID is created. The switches in the stack will become 'active' and retain their configuration.

No action is taken when set to 'false (2)' in any stack.

What is hpStackSetStacking?

Setting this read-write flag to true on the greater fragment after a stack split locks in the physically present members as the definitive stack and converts missing members to strict provisioning; setting it true on the lesser fragment clears its stack info and starts a brand-new stack ID. It has no effect when set to false, so an admin uses it specifically to resolve a split-stack condition on one side or the other.
