hpicfUrpfConfigDefRoute
Module: HP-ICF-URPF-MIB
OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-URPF-MIB::hpicfUrpfConfigDefRoute
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.131.1.3.1.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TruthValue
Access: read-write
Description: Allow use of the default route when checking the ingress port. Enabling use of the default route is only supported in strict mode. If use of the default route was enabled in loose mode, all packets would be allowed, therefore this option is not supported in loose mode. true(1) - enable use of default route in port match; false(2) - disable use of default route in port match.
What is hpicfUrpfConfigDefRoute?
This read-write flag, defaulting to false, controls whether URPF is allowed to use the default route when checking the ingress port, a feature only supported in strict mode since permitting it in loose mode would effectively allow all traffic through. Admins enable it when they want strict-mode URPF to accept packets whose source matches only the default route rather than requiring a more specific route. An admin whose edge router relies heavily on a default route to reach most source networks would set this to true(1) so strict URPF doesn't reject otherwise-legitimate traffic lacking a specific route entry.
