hpicfUrpfConfigAllowDhcp

Module: HP-ICF-URPF-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-URPF-MIB::hpicfUrpfConfigAllowDhcp

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.131.1.3.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: Allow packets with SA=0.0.0.0 and DA=255.255.255.255, such as DHCP and BOOTP, to bypass the URPF checks. true(1) - packets will bypass URPF checks; false(2) packets will be dropped.

What is hpicfUrpfConfigAllowDhcp?

This read-write flag, defaulting to false, controls whether packets with source address 0.0.0.0 and destination address 255.255.255.255, such as DHCP and BOOTP discovery packets, bypass URPF checks entirely. Admins enable it on interfaces where DHCP clients need to boot up, since such packets would otherwise fail URPF's source-route validation (a host with no IP yet has no valid reverse route) and get dropped. An admin enabling strict URPF on an access-layer interface with DHCP clients would set this to true(1) to avoid blocking legitimate DHCP discovery traffic.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.131.1.3.1.5
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HP-ICF-URPF-MIB::hpicfUrpfConfigAllowDhcp

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.131.1.3.1.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HP-ICF-URPF-MIB::hpicfUrpfConfigAllowDhcp.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.131.1.3.1.5.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> hpicfUrpfConfigAllowDhcp.1
