Description: Validate the server response for the option 82 field before forwarding to client. This mib object can be configured only when hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayOption82AdminStatus is in enable state. This is an optional parameter during configuration of option 82 and the default value in the switch is disable
What is hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayOption82ResponseValidate?
This read-write integer turns on validation of the DHCP server's response against the Option 82 field before forwarding it back to the client. It is an optional check configurable only while Option 82 is enabled, and the description states it defaults to disable, so an admin must explicitly opt in. An admin hardening DHCP relay against a misbehaving server would set this to enable(1) to ensure Option 82 data isn't stripped or altered incorrectly on the return path.
