hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayOption82RemoteId

Module: HP-ICF-UDP-FORWARD

OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-UDP-FORWARD::hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayOption82RemoteId

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.23.1.8.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Remote ID sub option that will be filled while forwarding the client request to the server. This mib object can be configured only when hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayOption82AdminStatus is in enable state. The default value for this mib object is mac.

mac --- the switch MAC address is filled as remote id sub option. ip --- IP address of the VLAN on which the client request is received is filled as remote id sub option. mgmtvlan --- the management VLAN IP address will be filled for remote id sub option.

What is hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayOption82RemoteId?

This read-write integer selects what value the relay agent inserts into the Option 82 Remote ID sub-option, choosing among mac(1), ip(2), or mgmtvlan(3). Per the description, mac uses the switch's own MAC address, ip uses the VLAN interface's IP address where the client request arrived, and mgmtvlan uses the management VLAN's IP address, letting an admin choose how relayed clients are identified upstream. An admin standardizing DHCP relay identification on IP addresses instead of MAC addresses would set this to ip(2).
