hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayHopCount

Module: HP-ICF-UDP-FORWARD

OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-UDP-FORWARD::hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayHopCount

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.23.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: If this mib object is disabled then DHCP Relay Agent will not increment the hop count field of the DHCP packet while transmitting packet to the DHCP server. If this mib object is enabled then DHCP Relay Agent will increment the hop count field while transmitting the DHCP packet to the server. By default it is set to enabled.

What is hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayHopCount?

This read-write integer controls whether the relay agent increments the DHCP packet's hop count field when forwarding it toward the server. The description notes it defaults to enabled, and disabling it can help in topologies where an unrelated hop-count limit elsewhere in the network would otherwise cause valid relayed packets to be dropped. An admin troubleshooting DHCP requests that fail after crossing several relay hops might set this to disable(2) to stop the count from tripping a downstream hop-count check.

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.23.1.9.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HP-ICF-UDP-FORWARD::hpicfUdpFwdDhcpRelayHopCount.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.23.1.9.1 i <value>
