Description: Duplicate IPv4 addresses can be detected either by a server, using an ICMP ECHO message, or by a client using ARP. This object is set by the server to (1) if the client used DHCPDECLINE to mark the offered address as in use, or to (2) if the server discovered the address in use by some client before offering it.
What is hpicfDhcpv4ServerNotifyClientOrServerDetected?
This OID indicates, as part of the duplicate-address trap, whether the client(1, via DHCPDECLINE) or the server(2, via its own ping check) detected the duplicate IPv4 address. An admin reads this to know whether the conflict was caught proactively by the server or reported after the fact by the affected client.
