hpicfDhcpClientHostNameOption

Module: HP-ICF-DHCPCLIENT-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-DHCPCLIENT-MIB::hpicfDhcpClientHostNameOption

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.57.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object enables/disables DHCP option 12 that allows for sending the system's hostname in DHCP packets.

By default this object is set to be disabled.

Setting this flag to 'enabled' results in the inclusion of system hostname in DHCP packets.

What is hpicfDhcpClientHostNameOption?

This flag controls whether the device includes its system hostname in DHCP packets using DHCP option 12. Admins enable it when they want DHCP servers or DNS integration to automatically learn and register the device's hostname during the DHCP exchange. Setting hpicfDhcpClientHostNameOption to enable(1) lets a DHCP server automatically populate DNS with the switch's hostname when it obtains an address.
