hpicfDhcpSnoopAllowOverwriteBinding

Module: HP-ICF-DHCP-SNOOP-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-DHCP-SNOOP-MIB::hpicfDhcpSnoopAllowOverwriteBinding

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.34.1.1.1.15

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: When set to true, allows DHCP Snooping binding to be overwritten for the same IP address. When a DHCP server offers a host an IP address and if this address is already bound to an existing host in the binding table, the existing binding is overwritten for the new host if the new host is successfully able to acquire the same IP address. When false, the DHCP offer packet will be dropped.

What is hpicfDhcpSnoopAllowOverwriteBinding?

When true, this lets a new DHCP client take over an existing binding entry for an IP address already leased to a different host, provided the new host successfully obtains that same address; when false (the default), such an offer is simply dropped instead. Admins might enable this in environments with frequent device swaps on the same port to avoid stale bindings blocking legitimate new leases.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HP-ICF-DHCP-SNOOP-MIB::hpicfDhcpSnoopAllowOverwriteBinding

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.34.1.1.1.15.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HP-ICF-DHCP-SNOOP-MIB::hpicfDhcpSnoopAllowOverwriteBinding.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.34.1.1.1.15.1 s <value>
