Description: The number of ARP packets received on untrusted ports that were dropped because they advertized a source IP-to-MAC binding that did not match a known, valid binding. This count does not increment for VLANs for which Dynamic ARP Protection is not enabled.

What is hpicfArpProtectVlanStatBadBindings?

This read-only Counter32 counts, per its source description, ARP packets from untrusted ports that were dropped because they advertised a source IP-to-MAC binding that didn't match a known, valid binding, and does not increment on VLANs without Dynamic ARP Protection enabled. Admins treat a climbing BadBindings count as the clearest sign of an actual ARP spoofing attempt, since it means a device tried to claim an IP address that belongs to a different, already-known MAC. For example, a sudden spike in BadBindings on a user VLAN would prompt an admin to check hpicfArpProtectErrantSrcMac/Ip for the offending device's details.
