hpicfArpProtectErrantNotifyEnable

Module: HP-ICF-ARP-PROTECT

OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-ARP-PROTECT::hpicfArpProtectErrantNotifyEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.37.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Provides operational control of hpicfArpProtectErrantReply.

What is hpicfArpProtectErrantNotifyEnable?

This read-write INTEGER (enabled(1)/disabled(2)) provides, per its source description, operational control over whether hpicfArpProtectErrantReply notifications are actually sent when an errant ARP reply is detected. Admins disable this if they want ARP Protection to keep enforcing and counting violations without generating a flood of SNMP traps during a known ongoing attack or noisy environment. For example, setting this to disabled(2) during a large-scale ARP spoofing incident would stop the trap flood while the underlying protection and counters (like hpicfArpProtectErrantCnt) keep working.

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HP-ICF-ARP-PROTECT::hpicfArpProtectErrantNotifyEnable.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.37.1.1.1.4.1 i <value>
