Description: This MIB object returns the current power usage of this entity. For entities that cannot be set to function in a low power mode, the value returned by this object would be the same as that of entPowerMaxPowerUsage. For entities that are set to function in a low power mode, the value returned would be the same as that of entPowerMinPowerUsage.

What is hpEntPowerCurrentPowerUsage?

This reports the entity's actual power draw, in watts, right now -- matching its max rating if the component can't run in a reduced-power mode, or its min rating if it's currently configured for low power. An admin monitors this in real time to track actual power consumption across the chassis, useful for capacity planning or identifying components drawing more than expected. A reading of 150 watts on a component whose max is also 150 confirms it's running at full power since it has no lower-power operating mode.
