hpSwitchAuthRespectPriv

Module: HP-AUTH-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-AUTH-MIB::hpSwitchAuthRespectPriv

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.16.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object allows the switch to set privilege level of the session based on the received configuration variable from the authentication server. For RADIUS, the Service-Type attribute's configured value on the server should be 6-Administrative for manager's privilege level, or 7-NAS-prompt for the user/operator privilege level.

What is hpSwitchAuthRespectPriv?

When enabled, the switch assigns a logged-in user's privilege level (manager vs. operator) from the value returned by the authentication server rather than local configuration. For RADIUS specifically, the server's Service-Type attribute must be set to 6 (Administrative) for manager access or 7 (NAS-prompt) for operator access. This lets an admin centralize privilege assignment in RADIUS/TACACS+ instead of managing it switch-by-switch.
