Description: H3C MIB for Smart Link Backup Group (SLBG) managing fast Ethernet link failover for access layer redundancy.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-SLBG-MIB?

H3C-SLBG-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou H3C Technologies) vendor-specific MIB for managing Service Loopback Groups (SLBG) — note this diverges from a 'Smart Link Backup Group' interpretation of the acronym; the MIB's own description and object names (h3cSlbgGroupSrvType, h3cSlbgGroupNumber) confirm SLBG here stands for Service Loopback Group, a mechanism for redirecting specific traffic types to service-capable interface cards rather than a link-redundancy feature. It defines h3cSlbgGroupTable, indexed by h3cSlbgGroupNumber, where h3cSlbgGroupSrvType (a BITS value: ipv6, ipv6mc, tunnel, multicastTunnel, mpls) declares which traffic types a given service loopback group handles, and h3cSlbgPortTable, indexed by the standard IF-MIB InterfaceIndex, showing which service loopback group a port is attached to (h3cSlbgPortAttachedGroupNumber) versus which group is actually selected/active for it (h3cSlbgPortSelectedGroupNumber). A mismatch between the attached and selected group numbers indicates the requested service loopback binding failed to take effect, which would silently break forwarding for the traffic types that group was meant to handle. It depends on the underlying hardware having interface cards capable of servicing the declared traffic types, and this H3C-SLBG-MIB MIB is the reference for confirming port-to-service-group bindings on H3C switches/routers using service loopback groups.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-SLBG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switches/routers supporting service loopback groups for hardware traffic redirection

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls h3cSlbgPortAttachedGroupNumber and h3cSlbgPortSelectedGroupNumber for a port expected to service MPLS traffic; if the attached group number is nonzero but the selected group number reads 0, the service loopback binding did not take effect and MPLS traffic on that port may not be processed correctly.

What Can Be Monitored

  • service loopback group traffic-type configuration (ipv6/ipv6mc/tunnel/multicastTunnel/mpls)
  • group row creation/activation status
  • port-to-group attachment
  • port-to-group actual selection/binding state
