gmplsSublabelIndex

Module: GMPLS-LABEL-MIB

OID (symbolic): GMPLS-LABEL-MIB::gmplsSublabelIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.3.0.0.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-only

Description: In conjunction with mplsLabelInterface and mplsLabelIndex, this object uniquely identifies this row. This sub-index allows a single GMPLS label to be defined as a concatenation of labels. This is particularly useful in TDM. The ordering of sub-labels is strict with the sub-label with lowest gmplsSublabelIndex appearing first. Note that all sub-labels of a single GMPLS label must share the same mplsLabelInterface and mplsLabelIndex values. For labels that are not composed of concatenated sub-labels, this value should be set to zero.

What is gmplsSublabelIndex?

This value is a sub-index that, together with the interface and label index from mplsLabelTable, uniquely identifies a row in the GMPLS label table, letting one GMPLS label be represented as a concatenation of several sub-labels. An engineer working with TDM circuits relies on this ordering, since sub-labels with a lower gmplsSublabelIndex appear first in the concatenated label, to reconstruct the full generalized label correctly. A simple, non-concatenated label uses a gmplsSublabelIndex of zero, while a multi-part TDM label might use values 1, 2, 3 for its successive parts.
