Description: Dell Force10 (F10) MIB for Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Monitoring Protocol, tracking BGP session and route monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is F10-BMP-MIB?
The F10-BMP-MIB is a Dell Force10 (now Dell EMC Networking) proprietary MIB module supporting the Baremetal Provisioning (BMP) feature on Dell Networking OS (FTOS) switches and routers. It exposes configuration and status data related to how a switch automatically discovers, boots, and provisions itself from a network-based configuration/image server when first powered on. In monitoring terms it is used to confirm whether a device successfully completed zero-touch provisioning and to check the health and status of that automated boot/software-load process, reflecting the device's software/configuration state after first boot. It depends on the broader Dell Force10 MIB suite (e.g., FORCE10-TC for shared textual conventions) and typically works alongside standard system MIBs. It is deployed in Dell Force10 data center switch and router estates that use zero-touch provisioning to bring up racks of new switches without manual console configuration. Engineers can download the F10-BMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F10-BMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell Force10 / Dell EMC Networking switches and routers
Monitoring Examples
No specific object or table names were captured for this MIB, so exact polling targets cannot be confirmed, but consistent with its stated purpose an admin would poll BMP status objects to see whether a newly racked switch has completed automatic provisioning or is stuck retrying. A device remaining in a provisioning-in-progress or failed state for an extended period would indicate the BMP server, DHCP options, or image/config file are unreachable or misconfigured.
What Can Be Monitored
- baremetal provisioning operational status
- provisioning/boot completion state
- auto-configuration process state
