extendAirG2InsertionLoss

Module: ExtendAirG2

OID (symbolic): ExtendAirG2::extendAirG2InsertionLoss

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.25651.1.2.3.1.57.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: Inserion Loss is applicable for 'OTHER' diplexer entities only/ -.

What is extendAirG2InsertionLoss?

This read-write value, expressed in hundredths of a dBm, records the insertion loss to compensate for, but per its own DESCRIPTION only applies when the diplexer configuration is set to 'OTHER'. An admin sets it to offset the signal loss introduced by a non-standard diplexer or filter component so the radio's power and link-budget calculations remain accurate. For example, setting this to 150 would tell the radio to account for 1.50 dB of insertion loss from the installed 'OTHER' diplexer hardware.

Start monitoring Exalt microwave radios with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the ExtendAirG2::extendAirG2InsertionLoss OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Exalt microwave radios from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select an Exalt microwave radio as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type extendAirG2InsertionLoss into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the insertion loss for this diplexer entity, in hundredths of a dBm. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an Integer32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the loss exceeds the level expected for a healthy diplexer, since rising insertion loss often points to a connector or component problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
