OID (symbolic): EXPRESSGS-MIB::expressGSSwitchPortKnownMode

Description: Enabling known mode for this switch port causes the port to safely discard frames flooded because they are unknown unicast frames. This mode greatly enhances the efficiency of the port's output buffer since space is not wasted for frames not meant for this port.

Enabling this feature disables learning for this port. Addresses associated for this port should be entered statically. The default is disable.

What is expressGSSwitchPortKnownMode?

When enabled, causes the port to safely discard frames that would otherwise be flooded because they're unknown unicasts, improving output-buffer efficiency; enabling it also disables learning, so addresses for this port must be entered statically. An admin enables known mode on a port with a small, fixed set of statically-configured devices to keep its output buffer from wasting space on flood traffic.
