docsDevSTPControl

Module: EXP-DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-MIB

OID (symbolic): EXP-DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-MIB::docsDevSTPControl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.3.83.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object controls operation of the spanning tree protocol (as distinguished from transparent bridging). If set to stEnabled(1) then the spanning tree protocol is enabled, subject to bridging constraints. If noStFilterBpdu(2), then spanning tree is not active, and Bridge PDUs received are discarded. If noStPassBpdu(3) then spanning tree is not active and Bridge PDUs are transparently forwarded. Note that a device need not implement all of these options, but that noStFilterBpdu(2) is required.

What is docsDevSTPControl?

This controls how the device handles the Spanning Tree Protocol: stEnabled(1) runs STP normally, noStFilterBpdu(2) disables STP and drops incoming Bridge PDUs, and noStPassBpdu(3) disables STP but transparently forwards Bridge PDUs. Admins set this to control loop prevention behavior on the device's bridged interfaces.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.3.83.1.1.5
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> EXP-DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-MIB::docsDevSTPControl

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.3.83.1.1.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> EXP-DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-MIB::docsDevSTPControl.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.3.83.1.1.5.1 i <value>
