What is es1000SysEcLevel?

This string reports the unit's ASCII engineering-change (EC) level, formatted as xyymmdd where x is the millennium digit. Support engineers read it to identify exactly which hardware revision is installed, since later EC levels often correspond to fixes for known issues. For example, an EC level dated well before a documented hardware erratum is a signal that unit may still be exposed to that defect.
