eriRouterQosIfQueueTotalDroppedOctets

Module: ERICSSON-ROUTER-QOS-MIB

OID (symbolic): ERICSSON-ROUTER-QOS-MIB::eriRouterQosIfQueueTotalDroppedOctets

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.193.218.2.22.1.2.1.50

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: The total number of octets dropped in this queue, either by the WRED (Weighted Random Early Detection) algorithm, or because the total number of packets in this queue was greater than the maximum threshold. The value is the sum of eriRouterQosIfQueueWredDroppedOctets and eriRouterQosIfQueueTailDroppedOctets.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime.

What is eriRouterQosIfQueueTotalDroppedOctets?

This counter reports the total number of octets dropped from this transmit queue on the interface, combining drops from both causes tracked separately elsewhere in this table: the WRED early-detection algorithm and straightforward tail drops once the queue filled up. Its value is defined as the sum of eriRouterQosIfQueueWredDroppedOctets and eriRouterQosIfQueueTailDroppedOctets, so it is the single number to watch for overall queue congestion. A steep rise means this queue is losing traffic faster than it can be scheduled out, regardless of which drop mechanism is responsible.
