eriRouterQosIfQueueIPv4WredDroppedOctets

Module: ERICSSON-ROUTER-QOS-MIB

OID (symbolic): ERICSSON-ROUTER-QOS-MIB::eriRouterQosIfQueueIPv4WredDroppedOctets

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.193.218.2.22.1.2.1.16

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of IPv4 octets dropped due to the application of a weighted random early detection algorithm.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime.

What is eriRouterQosIfQueueIPv4WredDroppedOctets?

This counter reports the IPv4 octets dropped from this queue by the WRED (Weighted Random Early Detection) algorithm, a proactive congestion-avoidance mechanism that discards some traffic before the queue actually fills up. It applies to a transmit queue on an interface where QoS queuing is enabled. Admins track it per queue to see how traffic is actually being scheduled and, for the dropped variants, where congestion is forcing discards on this interface. Discontinuities in the value can occur when the management system re-initializes, so a sudden reset does not necessarily mean the underlying activity stopped.
