Module: ERICSSON-ROUTER-QOS-MIB

OID (symbolic): ERICSSON-ROUTER-QOS-MIB::eriRouterQosIfQueueHCWredDroppedOctets

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.193.218.2.22.1.2.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: The number of octets dropped due to the application of a weighted random early detection algorithm. This object is a 64-bit version of eriRouterQosIfQueueWredDroppedOctets.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime.

What is eriRouterQosIfQueueHCWredDroppedOctets?

This counter reports the octets dropped from this queue by the WRED (Weighted Random Early Detection) algorithm, a proactive congestion-avoidance mechanism that discards some traffic before the queue actually fills up. It applies to a transmit queue on an interface where QoS queuing is enabled. It is the 64-bit version of eriRouterQosIfQueueWredDroppedOctets, used on high-traffic interface queues where a 32-bit counter could wrap between polls. Discontinuities in the value can occur when the management system re-initializes, so a sudden reset does not necessarily mean the underlying activity stopped.
