Module: ERICSSON-ROUTER-QOS-MIB

OID (symbolic): ERICSSON-ROUTER-QOS-MIB::eriRouterQosIfQueueHCIPv4TailDroppedOctets

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.193.218.2.22.1.2.1.24

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: The number of IPv4 octets dropped when the total number of packets in this queue was greater than the maximum threshold. This object is a 64-bit version of eriRouterQosIfQueueIPv4TailDroppedOctets.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime.

What is eriRouterQosIfQueueHCIPv4TailDroppedOctets?

This counter reports the IPv4 octets dropped from this queue because its total packet count exceeded the configured maximum threshold, i.e. a straightforward tail drop once the queue was full. It applies to a transmit queue on an interface where QoS queuing is enabled. It is the 64-bit version of eriRouterQosIfQueueIPv4TailDroppedOctets, used on high-traffic interface queues where a 32-bit counter could wrap between polls. Discontinuities in the value can occur when the management system re-initializes, so a sudden reset does not necessarily mean the underlying activity stopped.
