This value reports how severe the active PTP alarm is, using the standard ITU perceived-severity scale, letting administrators judge urgency for what could be a time-synchronization-affecting issue. Since many services depend on accurate PTP timing, staff typically treat higher-severity PTP alarms -- such as a total loss of sync -- with priority. For example, a brief PTP performance degradation might register as minor, while a complete loss of clock lock would likely be flagged as critical.
