This value uniquely identifies a specific active alarm in the router's hardware-resource-management alarm table, distinguishing it from any other currently active alarms related to hardware resource conditions. An administrator uses this index to reference and track one particular alarm entry when hardware-resource issues -- such as resource exhaustion on a line card -- need investigation. For example, this index would let a management tool uniquely address a specific hardware-resource alarm row among several that might be active simultaneously.
