apsCfgSdThreshold

Module: ERI-DNX-APS-MIB

OID (symbolic): ERI-DNX-APS-MIB::apsCfgSdThreshold

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.644.2.4.1.12.2.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The configured Signal Degrade Threshold.

The negated value of this number is used as the exponent of 10 for computing the threshold value for the Bit Error Rate(BER). For example, a value of 5 indicates a BER threshold of 10^-5.

What is apsCfgSdThreshold?

This read-write integer (5-9) sets the Signal Degrade bit-error-rate threshold for an APS card, where the value is the negated exponent of 10, so 9 means a BER threshold of 10^-9. An admin uses this pre-failure threshold, tighter than the Signal Failure threshold, to trigger protection switching on a slowly degrading link before it becomes an outright failure. For example, setting apsCfgSdThreshold to 6 makes the card flag Signal Degrade once bit errors exceed a rate of 10^-6, well before Signal Failure would trip.
