etsysMACLockingViolationEnable

Module: ENTERASYS-MAC-LOCKING-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-MAC-LOCKING-MIB::etsysMACLockingViolationEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.21.1.2.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: EnabledStatus

Access: read-write

Description: When set to enabled(1), the agent issues violation traps for violations detected by the agent.

Arrival of violation traps at the management station is not guaranteed and the trap generation rate is not required to match the violation detection rate. A best effort delivery is acceptable.

When disabled(2), no traps are sent.

What is etsysMACLockingViolationEnable?

This read-write EnabledStatus per-port object controls whether the switch sends SNMP violation traps when a MAC locking violation is detected on that port, with best-effort (not guaranteed) delivery. An admin enables this on security-sensitive ports to get near-real-time alerts when an unauthorized MAC attempts access. For example, an admin enables this on a locked-down access port so the NMS receives a trap the moment an unrecognized laptop is plugged in.
