etsysImageValidationSnmpAddress
Module: ENTERASYS-IMAGE-VALIDATION-MIB
OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-IMAGE-VALIDATION-MIB::etsysImageValidationSnmpAddress
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.47.1.1.7
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: InetAddress
Access: read-write
Description: The address of the host that we should receive an SNMP request from. If this object contains its default value then an SNMP request from any station will be considered a success. If an SNMP request has NOT been received from this host by the end of the etsysImageValidationPeriod, a reset will be initiated to load the prior operational image.
What is etsysImageValidationSnmpAddress?
This object holds the address of the host that must send an SNMP request to the switch within the validation period for the new image to pass that check; if left at its default, an SNMP request from any host counts as success, and if none arrives in time the switch reverts to the prior image. An admin sets this to a specific management station's address to require confirmation that the real NMS can reach the switch under the new firmware before keeping it. Setting it to a network management server's IP address means the new image is only retained if that specific server successfully polls the switch via SNMP in time.
