etsysImageValidationOperations

Module: ENTERASYS-IMAGE-VALIDATION-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-IMAGE-VALIDATION-MIB::etsysImageValidationOperations

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.47.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Access: read-write

Description: The operations that will be used to validate the new image during the etsysImageValidationPeriod.

etsysImageValidationConfig -

The successful loading of the start-up configuration.

etsysImageValidationIcmp -

The successful reception of an ICMP echo reply from the host specified in etsysImageValidationIcmpAddress.

etsysImageValidationSnmp -

The successful reception of an SNMP request from the host specified in etsysImageValidationSnmpAddress. If a host is not specified, an SNMP request from any host will be considered a success.

If all of the selected validation operations are not successfully completed within the etsysImageValidationPeriod, a reset will be issued to load the prior operational image.

What is etsysImageValidationOperations?

This BITS object selects which checks are used to validate a newly booted image within etsysImageValidationPeriod: successful startup-configuration load, receipt of an ICMP echo reply from the host in etsysImageValidationIcmpAddress, and/or receipt of an SNMP request from the host in etsysImageValidationSnmpAddress; if any selected check fails to complete in time, the switch reverts to the prior image. An admin selects which combination of checks must all pass for the new firmware to be considered successfully validated, tailoring validation to what the network actually expects to see from a healthy device. Selecting both the config-load and ICMP checks means the switch will only keep the new image if its startup config loads correctly and a specified host answers a ping within the validation period.
