etsysImageValidationIcmpAddress
Module: ENTERASYS-IMAGE-VALIDATION-MIB
OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-IMAGE-VALIDATION-MIB::etsysImageValidationIcmpAddress
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.47.1.1.5

Type: InetAddress
Access: read-write
Description: The address of the host that should respond to the ICMP echo request. If an ICMP echo reply has NOT been received from this host by the end of the etsysImageValidationPeriod, a reset will be initiated to load the prior operational image.
What is etsysImageValidationIcmpAddress?
This object holds the address of a host that must respond to an ICMP echo (ping) request within the validation period for the new image to be considered valid; if no reply arrives by then, the switch resets to the prior image. An admin sets this to the address of a reliably reachable device (such as a default gateway) so a successful ping confirms basic network connectivity was restored under the new image. Setting it to a gateway's IP address means the new firmware is only kept if that gateway responds to a ping before the validation period expires.
