etsysIfOperStateLinkChange
Module: ENTERASYS-IF-MIB-EXT-MIB
OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-IF-MIB-EXT-MIB::etsysIfOperStateLinkChange
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.57.1.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: EnabledStatus
Access: read-write
Description: This object controls the system wide ability to manipulate the physical link state of an interface when the interface's ifOperStatus transitions into or out of the down(2) state. A value of enabled(1) will cause an interface to drop physical link when its ifOperStatus transitions to down(2). If the interface would transition out of the down(2) state, assuming it did have link, then physical link will be restored to the interface. A value of disabled(2) will cause an interface to not alter its physical link regardless of the value of ifOperStatus. This object only affects those interfaces which have a concept of physical link.
What is etsysIfOperStateLinkChange?
This setting controls whether the switch actively drops the physical link (turns off the port's electrical/optical signal) when an interface's standard ifOperStatus transitions to down, restoring the link automatically if the interface later comes back up. An administrator enables this on interfaces where the connected device needs to see an actual physical link-down event to react correctly, such as triggering failover on a directly attached device, rather than just seeing SNMP-visible status changes. With the default value of disabled, an interface's physical link state won't be forced down purely because ifOperStatus changed, on interfaces that support the underlying physical-link concept.
