etsysESwitchAddressFilter

Module: ENTERASYS-ESWITCH-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-ESWITCH-MIB::etsysESwitchAddressFilter

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.10.1.3.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: DURABLE: A switch that controls address filtering. When true, the bridge purges the learned entries from its forwarding database, stops its learning process, and forwards only frames with destination and source addresses that have been specified via management.

What is etsysESwitchAddressFilter?

This durable TruthValue, when set to true, switches the bridge port into a locked-down forwarding mode: it purges its learned MAC forwarding table entries, stops learning new ones, and forwards only frames whose source and destination addresses have been explicitly configured by management. Admins enable this to lock down a port to a known, fixed set of MAC addresses, a common security measure against unauthorized devices communicating through that port. Setting etsysESwitchAddressFilter to true(1) on a port serving a fixed server would block traffic from any newly learned, unrecognized MAC address plugged into that same port.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.10.1.3.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ENTERASYS-ESWITCH-MIB::etsysESwitchAddressFilter

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.10.1.3.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ENTERASYS-ESWITCH-MIB::etsysESwitchAddressFilter.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.10.1.3.1.1.1.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> etsysESwitchAddressFilter.1
