Category: Domain: Server/Host Monitoring, Vendor: Empire/SystemEDGE
Description: Empire SystemEDGE Windows monitoring MIB for tracking Windows OS performance, services, and event log statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EMPIRE-MONWIN?
EMPIRE-MONWIN is the Windows-specific management MIB from Empire Technologies' SystemEDGE agent, a cross-platform SNMP system-monitoring agent widely deployed for OS-level monitoring. It exposes Windows operating system data covering running services and their state, event log statistics, and general Windows performance counters exposed through the agent. Its purpose is squarely software/OS status monitoring: administrators use it to check whether critical Windows services are running or stopped, monitor CPU and memory utilization, track event log error/warning counts, and detect other OS-level health issues on a monitored Windows host. As a SystemEDGE module it works alongside Empire's core/base SystemEDGE MIB (covering generic host resources) and often complements the standard HOST-RESOURCES-MIB. It is deployed in enterprise environments where SystemEDGE agents are installed on Windows servers to give a unified SNMP-based view of OS health alongside other platforms (Unix/Linux) monitored by the same NMS. Engineers can download the EMPIRE-MONWIN file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EMPIRE-MONWIN. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Windows server/workstation running Empire (Fidelia) SystemEDGE agent
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls the Windows services table exposed by this MIB to detect a critical service (e.g., a database or application service) that has stopped unexpectedly, triggering an alert. Event log counters are checked to catch a spike in Windows error-level events that might correlate with an application crash or driver fault. CPU and memory utilization objects are trended over time to identify a Windows host approaching resource exhaustion before it affects application performance. No concrete object names were captured for this MIB in this batch, so exact OIDs should be confirmed against the compiled MIB source.
What Can Be Monitored
- Windows service running/stopped status
- CPU utilization
- memory utilization
- event log error/warning counts
- OS-level performance counters
