eltFlIfConfigPreemptionMode

Module: ELTEX-MES-FLEX-LINKS-MIB

OID (symbolic): ELTEX-MES-FLEX-LINKS-MIB::eltFlIfConfigPreemptionMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.35265.1.23.1.5.1.1.3.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The object specifies the preemption mechanism for a Flex Link interface pair.

off - No preemption happens from active interface to backup interface.

forced - The active interface always preempts the backup interface. The preemption occurs after the time specified in eltFlIfConfigPreemptionDelay.

bandwidth - The interface with higher bandwidth always acts as the active interface.

What is eltFlIfConfigPreemptionMode?

This deprecated, read-write INTEGER selects the preemption mechanism for a Flex Links interface pair, with values off(1) meaning no preemption back to the active interface, forced(2) meaning the active interface always preempts the backup after a delay, and bandwidth(3) meaning the higher-bandwidth interface always becomes active. An admin picks forced(2) when they want a preferred link to resume forwarding once it recovers, using eltFlIfConfigPreemptionDelay to control the timing. For example, setting this to bandwidth(3) on a pair of a 10Gbps and 1Gbps interface ensures the 10Gbps link always acts as primary whenever it is up.
