eltexLtcTunnelDropThreshold

Module: ELTEX-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-MIB

OID (symbolic): ELTEX-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-MIB::eltexLtcTunnelDropThreshold

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.35265.37.1.3.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The drop threshold on an interface for a given protocol. After reaching this drop threshold, the interface will start dropping PDUs for the given protocol. This value cannot be greater than the value of eltexLtcTunnelShutdownThreshold. A value of 0 indicates that no limit is set.

What is eltexLtcTunnelDropThreshold?

A read-write value, in PDUs per second and defaulting to 0 (no limit), setting the rate at which the interface starts dropping tunneled PDUs for a given protocol, and which cannot exceed the paired shutdown threshold. This gives an admin a rate-limiting safeguard against tunneled protocol traffic, such as a BPDU storm, overwhelming the interface, discarding excess PDUs once the configured rate is exceeded rather than passing them all through. An admin protecting against a misbehaving downstream switch flooding STP BPDUs might set this to 100 PDUs/sec so excess tunneled BPDUs get dropped rather than saturating the tunnel.
