tRingMgmtBeaconRecovery

Module: DOT5-LOG-MIB

OID (symbolic): DOT5-LOG-MIB::tRingMgmtBeaconRecovery

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.1.1.1.1.1.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object controls the operation of beacon recovery. A write of disable to this object will cause the beacon recovery process to become inactive on this host. A write of enable will cause the beacon recovery process to become active. If beacon recovery is inoperable on the managing device this object will return 'BADSETINFO'. A read of this object will return the current value of this object, reflecting either the last request made or, in the case of a device which is unable to manage beacon recovery, invalid. This object either defaults to enabled or invalid, depending on whether the device can or cannot manage beacon recovery.

What is tRingMgmtBeaconRecovery?

This controls whether the device's automatic beacon-recovery process (which tries to isolate a faulty lobe/port causing the ring to beacon) is active: writing disable(1) turns it off, enable(2) turns it on, and reading returns invalid(3) on devices that can't manage beacon recovery at all. It defaults to enabled where supported, giving the device a chance to auto-heal a beaconing ring before an admin has to intervene.
