tRingMgmtBcnRecRingPortRetryCount

Module: DOT5-LOG-MIB

OID (symbolic): DOT5-LOG-MIB::tRingMgmtBcnRecRingPortRetryCount

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.1.1.1.1.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object defines the number of times a token ring ring port will be re-enabled after it has been determined that the port is causing the ring to beacon. Values other than 0-100 and 999 will result in MIB bad value.

Default of object is product dependent. Refer to individual product documentation.

Valid integer values are defined as: 0 ...disable ring port retries 1 - 100 ...retry ring port n times 999 ... retry ring port infinite times

What is tRingMgmtBcnRecRingPortRetryCount?

This sets how many times a ring port will be automatically re-enabled after being identified as the cause of ring beaconing, before the device gives up on it: 0 disables retries, 1-100 sets a finite retry count, and 999 means retry indefinitely. An admin might set this low (e.g. 3-5) on a port with a flaky cable to stop it from repeatedly disrupting the ring, or leave it at the product's default otherwise.
