Module: DNOS-DNS-RESOLVER-CONTROL-MIB

OID (symbolic): DNOS-DNS-RESOLVER-CONTROL-MIB::agentResCtlRequestRetransmits

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.2.6132.1.1.37.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The number of times the request is retransmitted. The request is retransmitted provided the maximum timeout value allows this many number of retransmits.

What is agentResCtlRequestRetransmits?

This read-write value, ranging from 0 to 100, sets how many times the device retransmits a DNS request, constrained by however many retransmits the configured timeout budget allows, and defaults to 2. An admin tunes it to control resolver resilience against occasional dropped DNS queries without retrying indefinitely. For example, leaving this at its default of 2 gives the resolver two extra attempts after the first request before it gives up on that DNS server.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DNOS-DNS-RESOLVER-CONTROL-MIB::agentResCtlRequestRetransmits

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.2.6132.1.1.37.1.1.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DNOS-DNS-RESOLVER-CONTROL-MIB::agentResCtlRequestRetransmits.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.2.6132.1.1.37.1.1.5.1 i <value>
