agentResCtlDefDomainName

Module: DNOS-DNS-RESOLVER-CONTROL-MIB

OID (symbolic): DNOS-DNS-RESOLVER-CONTROL-MIB::agentResCtlDefDomainName

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.2.6132.1.1.37.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: The default domain name for unqualified hostnames.

What is agentResCtlDefDomainName?

This read-write string sets the default domain name appended to unqualified hostnames when the device performs a DNS lookup. An admin configures it so that a bare hostname like 'server1' automatically resolves as 'server1.example.com' without the admin needing to type the fully qualified name everywhere. For example, setting this to 'corp.example.com' would let an admin ping just 'switch2' and have the device automatically resolve 'switch2.corp.example.com'.
