Description: Manages the D-Link Prime Safeguard Engine CPU protection and storm control thresholds.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DLINKPRIME-SAFEGUARD-ENGINE-MIB?

DLINKPRIME-SAFEGUARD-ENGINE-MIB is a D-Link Corp. proprietary MIB controlling the Safeguard Engine, a CPU-protection feature that rate-limits/deprioritizes broadcast and control-plane traffic to prevent CPU overload from a traffic storm. Its single object reports/sets the Safeguard Engine's operational state. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm whether CPU-protection is active on a D-Link switch experiencing high control-plane load. It is deployed on D-Link managed switches with Safeguard Engine. Engineers can download the DLINKPRIME-SAFEGUARD-ENGINE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINKPRIME-SAFEGUARD-ENGINE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link managed switches (Safeguard Engine)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks dpSafeguardEngineState to confirm CPU-protection is active during a suspected broadcast storm on a D-Link switch.
