Description: Manages broadcast, multicast, and unicast storm control thresholds and actions on D-Link 3100 series switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DLINK-3100-STORMCTRL-MIB?
DLINK-3100-STORMCTRL-MIB is a D-Link (Dlink Semiconductor "ROS" platform) vendor-specific MIB for the D-Link 3100 series switches that manages per-port broadcast/multicast/unknown-unicast storm control thresholds and mitigation actions. Indexed by dot1dBasePort in rlStormCtrlTable, it exposes per-frame-type enable flags and rate limits — rlStormCtrlBroadcastEnable/Rate, rlStormCtrlMulticastEnable/Rate, rlStormCtrlUnknownUnicastEnable/Rate, rlStormCtrlUnknownMulticastEnable/Rate — in a configurable rate unit (rlStormCtrlRateType), along with the mitigation action (rlStormCtrlSWAction: drop or dropAndShutDown) and polling interval (rlStormCtrlSWInterval). Capability scalars (rlStormCtrlSupport, rlStormCtrlTypeSupport, rlStormCtrlRateSupportPerType) describe which frame types and rate units the hardware supports, and rlStormCtrlGroupTable reports which internal rate-limiting group each port/frame-type combination shares. This is useful for confirming storm-control policy is correctly enabled per port and frame type, and for understanding whether a port was shut down due to a storm event. It depends on DLINK-3100-MIB and DLINK-3100-DEVICEPARAMS-MIB for parent OIDs and error/severity conventions, and BRIDGE-MIB for the dot1dBasePort index; administrators can download the DLINK-3100-STORMCTRL-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINK-3100-STORMCTRL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link 3100 series Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls rlStormCtrlBroadcastEnable and rlStormCtrlBroadcastRate for a port suspected of flooding, and checks rlStormCtrlSWAction; if the action is dropAndShutDown and the port has gone administratively down after a storm, rlStormCtrlSWTrapEnabled being true would mean a trap should have already alerted the NOC to the port suspension.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-port broadcast/multicast/unknown-unicast storm control enable and rate
- storm control rate unit type
- storm mitigation action (drop vs. drop-and-shutdown)
- storm polling interval
- per-port/frame-type rate-limiting group membership
